
Carolyn Cassady a writer and artist, was born Carolyn Robinson in Lansing, Michigan and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. She graduated from Bennington College and later became involved in set and costume design graduating from the University of Denver, with a Masters degree in Fine Arts and Theater Arts. It was in Denver that she met Neal Cassady, Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg. In 1948, she and Cassady married and had three children, Cathy, Jami and John. Her book, Off The Road: Twenty years with Cassady, Kerouac and Ginsberg, first published in 1991, has been revised and re-released by Black Spring Press. Carolyn now lives in England.Carolyn was filmed at the Bixby Canyon cabin where she, Neal and the children went to surprise Jack 47 years ago. It was her first time back to the cabin since that day. In her interview, Carolyn spoke candidly about the complex, yet loving relationship between her, Neal and Jack.
