Jami Cassady is Neal and Carolyn Cassady’s middle child, sister to Cathy and John Allen. Jami grew up studying and performing ballet while her mother, Carolyn created sets, scenery, costumes, hair and make-up for her performances. She moved to New York City at age 17 to study with American Ballet Theater, but a knee injury kept her from pursuing her dream of being a ballerina.
Today, Jami lives in Capitola, CA with Randy, her husband of 32 years. They have a daughter, Becky, who is 26 years old and expecting a baby this year. She has been in the dental field for 37 years. Jami and Randy keep the spirit of Neal Cassady alive through a website they maintain: www.nealcassadyestate.com
Jack Kerouac was “Uncle” Jack to Jami and her siblings. In One Fast Move, she vividly and lovingly recounts the day her family came to Bixby Canyon to surprise Jack back in 1960.
