
Sterling Lord is Co-Chairman of Sterling Lord Literistic. He has been representing authors for half a century and continues to accept new clients. His authors over the years have included Jack Kerouac, Ken Kesey, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Dick Francis, David Wise, Frank Deford, Tony Summers, Gloria Naylor and Howard Fast. In the area of children’s books, Sterling represents Stan and Jan Berenstain, whose Berenstain Bears books have sold 290 million copies in the United States and Canada alone. He also represents the largest selling college textbook on American government, Democracy Under Pressure. Lord met Kerouac in 1951 when Kerouac brought him his manuscript of On The Road. In Lord’s forthcoming book, The Jack Kerouac I Knew, he felt that “…his was a fresh, distinctive voice that should be heard. For more than four years I could not find an editor or a publisher who felt the same way.”
